ColEm PSP version 2.6.1 released

Sunday, September 12th, 2010

Proving that I’m not actually dead, but restin’, is today’s release of ColEm PSP 2.6.1. It’s a pretty cool release, as it fixes games like Frogger and Heist, which are now playable. Straight from Marat’s documentation:

  • State save file format (.STA) changed!
  • Now clearing all RAM to zeros (Heist works)
  • Now padding smaller ROMs with 0xFFs in LoadROM()
  • Fixed Reset9918() to reset VDP completely (Boulder Dash and Frogger)
  • Implemented SCREEN2 table address masking, thanks to Daniel Bienvenu

Future PSP releases; Time rewind in computer emulators

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

ColEm will be the next emulator to be brought up to the latest version of the PSP library. It will also include the ‘time rewind’ feature found in several other emulators.

I have not completely given up on Castaway PSP (I’m still poking it from time to time), but I am rather running out of options and patience.

For those of you wondering if/when the ‘rewind’ feature will make it to other emulators, especially computer emulators such as fMSX and Fuse, the issue is as follows.

Friday, August 15th, 2008

There are no major changes to report with this update; it synchronizes the PSP version with the Marat‘s official distribution. There are changes to the VDP (video) code, although I haven’t noticed any differences in rendering or performance.

Good to be back

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

While I continue waiting for days on end for my next GameFly rental, I wanted to let you know what’s been going on lately.

First, fMSX 2.5.1 release is coming up tomorrow. This release should fix mostly sound issues, and bring fMSX PSP up to par with the official distribution.

Second, a ColEm release should be around the corner, though it will mostly be a maintenance release.

Finally, it may interest some of you to know that I’m currently trying to implement adhoc gameplay for one (and then many?) of the emulators. Things are going well so far, so here’s to hoping…

UPDATE Gaah, I meant 3.5.1, not  2.5.1

PSP “Slim” binaries added

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

PSP “Slim”-compatible binaries have been added for all my emulator ports. Visit the specific emulator’s site and click the ‘Firmware version 1.00 and 2.00+’ binary link to download EBOOT’s compatible with older 1.00 firmware as well as the newer custom firmware.

Many thanks to the administrator of pspslimhacks.com for his help in testing.

Also, please note that I don’t have access to the “Slim” PSP model for testing. If any of the binaries don’t work, let me know.
