I’m forced to abandon work on Castaway PSP. I’m consistently unable to get emulation to work in any mode other than monochrome, and having combed through the code five or six times, and having attempted contact with the developer of the other PSP Castaway emulator, there’s not much else I can/am willing to do.
With regard to Spark, I’m working on the service that will implement automatic updates and notifications for new messages. Once that is completed, testing and bug fixes will follow, after which a release is imminent. The Gamercard widget is complete, and you can see a picture of it below.
If you’re an Android developer who’s working on other projects, and would like to work on Spark, let me know. I can’t promise anything at this point, but I’m considering opening the project for other developers, including the possibility of going open source, and knowing how much potential interest there is will likely make a difference. Please include the name(s) of the projects you’re working on.

Nooo. You can do it. I’m sure there’s a reason for no contact from the other castaway guy. Hope you get a breakthrough and keep going.
I found this article searching for another defunct emulator, so I’ll selfishly suggest:
Take a break from castaway by porting an appleII emulator? >.>
The only one available is from `05 and laughs at foolish attempts to run in 5+ CFW/leda. (The source was not released, despite it being done by ‘xboxopensource’)
Have you tried looking at Hatari? That’s open source and it’s already been ported to the Dingoo and Nokia N900, so who knows, you might have better luck with that.
Actually, come to think of it, I’m not quite sure how difficult it would be to port other emus like WinSTon or StonX to PSP. The former got successfully ported to Xbox, so who knows?
The problem with porting to PSP is the speed limitation. I began work on a number of emulators that I never finished; chiefly because the emulator was running too slowly on the platform. I’m not a hardware guy, and don’t have time necessary to play around with speed-tuning, so I generally stop developing any time I don’t get a decent framerate on an emulator.
Although the fact that Hatari is ported to a Nokia is a good indicator of its potential speediness
My name is Tyler Davis. I will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the university of Colorado in December. I have done a little android work and would be interested in offering any assistance you will take on Spark. It is an excellent application and I would like to help work on it. If you are interested let me know.
Thanks for the offer, Tyler. I’ll keep you in mind.
Oooooh, just thought – if you’re still hoping to get Castaway up and running some day, you could always check the DCaSTaway source at http://chui.dcemu.co.uk/dcastaway.html and see if you can have better luck with that and if so make a new PSP port out of it – hopefully with your established and gorgeous frontend style attached to it.
It was updated as recently as March last year, which should hopefully give it some sort of advantage over the PSP and PalmOS efforts.
